Dark Souls 3 does not feature any readily available commands for spawning items. It can be done through the use of the program Cheat Engine, though. This process is fairly simple, but will take a bit of setup on your part. You won’t be able to directly spawn items, however you can replace anything in your inventory with a different item. Caution
First and foremost we must state that there is a risk that goes along with cheating items into the game. Every Tuesday, the game developers run a sweep of save data on their servers. If you are caught with cheated items, you will receive the message “[CAUTION] INVALID GAME DATA HAS BEEN DETECTED” upon booting your game.
If you continue to play with this error, you will receive the message “[CAUTION] YOU HAVE BEEN PENALIZED”, which will result in a soft-ban. This means you will be placed on a server with other cheaters. We will go over a method to avoid this below, but GameDB strongly recommends you only play offline with cheated items.
Getting Started
Before we’re able to spawn our items, we need to download two things.
Always ensure that the versions match each other. The DS3 Cheat Tables site will always list the version in which the current download is compatible with. When you have everything downloaded and ready to go, boot up your game.
From here, go to your Cheat Engine client. Click on Select Process in the top left, and choose Dark Souls 3. Towards the bottom of your Cheat Engine client, you should see the text ‘Open’ with a checkbox to the left of it. Click this box to open your available scripts. There are many others that come with this table, but we will focus on the item swapper.
Navigate down to the ‘Helper’ section and check the box to the left to reveal the ‘Item Swap’ script. Once you’ve found it, head back to your game and find an item you don’t need. Drop it on the ground, and switch over to the Item ID list. Search for the item you want, then click the ID to copy it to your clipboard.
Navigate back over to Cheat Engine. You will see the Item Swap section is now filled with the data of the item you dropped on the ground. Double click the ‘Item ID’ row, and paste in the ID of the item you wish to spawn. Now you’ll see that the item you initially dropped has turned into the item you wanted to spawn. Pick it up, and it will appear in your inventory. Adjust the Quantity row to select the number of items you wish to spawn.

Playing Offline
Activating offline mode doesn’t quite do the trick here. Your data is still synced with the game’s master server if you have an internet connection. Here are your options to truly play offline:
- Start Steam in offline mode before booting your game
- Disable your network adapter, or unplug your router
- Block Dark Souls 3 from using your internet via firewalls
Removing “INVALID GAME DATA”

The process for removing this error will take time. We highly recommend you always play completely offline while cheating for this reason. You can remove the error with the following steps:
- Delete all of your character files in C:Users(Your-username)AppDataRoamingDarkSoulsIII.
- Create a new character making sure you are connected online while playing.
- Do not use Cheat Engine scripts until the message is removed.
